Commonwealth Day is an opportunity to promote understanding on global issues, international co-operation and the work of the Commonwealth’s organisations, which aim to improve the lives of its citizens.

It is celebrated on the second Monday in March every year.

The theme for Commonwealth Day 2012 is Connecting Cultures

The  observance  is  the  largest  UK  annual  multi faith gathering which  is  always  honoured  by the  presence  of  the head  of  the  commonwealth HER  MAJESTY  QUEEN  ELIZABETH II, The  Duke of  Edinburgh, Prince  Charles and  the  Duchess  of  Cornwall. Tanzania  was  represented  by  H.E  Peter Kallaghe
